Hello! Welcome to Promote kindle book, meet other people that publish. My name is Maria G. Melton and today we’re doing something a little bit different.
I’m going to be talking about the top three books I’ve read this year so far.
Each one of the books I’m going to mention I have a full review of and I’m going to link to that in the description.
So, let’s get started!
The book number #1 I’ve read this year so far is the biography of Elon Musk written by Ashlee Vance.
For those of you who don’t know, Elon Musk is the founder of Tesla and SpaceX.
It’s a really amazing journey that Vance takes you on through his life.
You get to see all sorts of interesting aspects of being an innovative entrepreneur.
You see the good, the bad, and the ugly.
You see that business can be brutal and you learn that a lot of these people that are geniuses and so innovative are not liked by a lot of people.
So I really enjoyed this book and I think it’s great for anybody who wants to see what it’s really like to be an innovator, to be an entrepreneur.
The book number #2 I’ve read this year so far is “Zero to One” by Peter Thiel.
I absolutely loved this book.
So Peter Thiel is the co-founder of PayPal.
He is another entrepreneur and innovator.
Unlike the Elon Musk biography, this is actually based on a class he taught at Stanford or Harvard I believe.
One of the students took notes and then they worked together to actually write this book.
This started out as a university class that was taught.
The book is very short, it’s a quick read.
It really challenges you as the reader in how you approach business.
Essentially, the core principle of the book is that you want to create monopolies.
Normally we’re told that monopolies are bad, but Thiel argues that we want to try and create monopolies.
He goes on to explain in detail what he means by that.
I loved this book because it really challenged me as the reader to try and approach business in a different way.
It really made me think about how am I going to differentiate my product.
So I definitely encourage this book for any business students that are looking to be innovative and future entrepreneurs.
Now, my favorite book of the year so far without a doubt is “When Breath Becomes Air” by Dr. Paul Kalanithi.
This is one of the most recent books I’ve read and it had an incredible impact on my life.
In this book, Kalanithi reflects on his life prior to and after being diagnosed with stage lung cancer.
It’s just a book that really makes you contemplate life.
It puts so many things in perspective, makes you think about what your priorities are in life.
Makes you think about death and how you want to approach your life in the face of death.
It’s just such an impactful book. This book is so powerful because it really makes you think about a lot of things in your life that you may have avoided or never thought of before.
I really encourage people to read this book, whether they’re med students I think there’s a lot of value for med students and doctors in this book.
But also just young people gain some perspective on life and how fortunate we are to be alive and to be able to do the things we do.
So this book is hands down my favorite book of the year so far because it’s just had such a profound impact on my life.
So there you have it!
These are my three favorite books of the year so far.
